Host of events taking place in Offaly Libraries as part of Bealtaine Festival

Bealtaine, which is Ireland's national festival celebrating the arts and creativity for older people, has lined up a very exciting programme of events at libraries across Offaly during the month of May to elebrate their 30th anniversary.

The month-long festival, which is run by Age & Opportunity, will feature everything from poetry to meditation, chair yoga, fashion advice, music, art, intergenerational vex robotics, air fryer demonstrations and much more, with all local events being hosted in a library near you.

Among the events taking place over the coming days are an Open Mic Poetry evening taking place in Edenderry Library tomorrow evening, April 30, and in Tullamore Libary on Thursday evening , May 6, with both events getting underway at 6pm.

A 'Mindfulness and Me' event will also take place in Kilcormac Library at 11am this Thursday, May 1, while the following day, Friday, May 2, Leona McDonnell will host a mindfulness and breathwork workshop in Tullamore Library at 2pm as part of the Bealtaine Festival called 'Breathe, Believe, Become' wioth the Tullamore event featuring breathwork, meditation and relaxing hypnotherapy over the course of 90 minutes.

Other events for the older generation to look forward to in Offaly as part of Bealtaine is an intergenerational vex robotics in Tullamore Library on Friday, May 16 between 11am and 1pm and in Birr Library on Saturday, May 17 between 10.30am and 12.30pm, with the aim of both events to bridge the gap between generations through robotics!

Also on the packed Bealtaine itinerary is an evening of fashion advice in Clara Library on Wednesday, May 7 next at 6.30pm which will be hosted by local stylist and fashionista extraordinaire, Liz Fleming who runs her own personalised one on one sylist company, 'Classy and Elegance' in her native Clara.

Birr Library will host an Intergenerational Portrait Painting Workshop on Saturday morning, May 10, at 10.30am, while Edenderry Library will host a Resin Workshop for Adults on Wednesday, May 14 next at 6pm.
