Offaly name team to face Westmeath in Andrew Corden Cup final
Offaly have named their team to contest the Andrew Corden Cup final against Westmeath in Glenisk O'Connor Park Tullamore this evening (throw-in 6.30pm).
The Faithful County's U20 footballers advanced to the final having defeated Carlow in their semi-final fixture, Edenderry's Cillian Foran and Dara Bates of Shamrocks scoring the crucial goals which decided the contest.
Interestingly, Offaly and Westmeath met in the first round of the Leinster U20 championship last month, with the Lake County claiming a six point victory in the Faithful Fields.
Mark Plunkett's charges restored pride with a battling performance when losing to Dublin, before defeating Meath in their last group game, albeit Offaly's hopes of progressing were over at that stage.
However, Offaly are one win away from the consolation prize of the Andrew Corden Cup, a Leinster 'B' competition which commemorates the former Carlow footballer who died at the young age of 24.
Tickets for this evening's final in Tullamore are €15 and must be purchased in advance, with free admission for under-16s (no ticket required).
