Dooly's Hotel in Birr being sold to County Arms owner
The sale of Dooly's Hotel in Birr to the family-run hospitality company Canbe Ltd is expected to be finalised in early May.
Speaking to the Offaly Independent on Wednesday, Eoin Garry, Managing Director of Canbe Ltd, stated that the company was in the process of purchasing the historic 17-bedroom boutique hotel, located in the town's main square, with the transaction expected to be finalised by May 6.
"We are committed to this purchase, and will retain Dooly's as a hotel. Due to a number of guesthouse closures in Birr there is now a shortage of visitor accommodation, so it is our intention to use the hotel as a spillover venue for guests from the County Arms hotel, which we also own. All staff currently employed in Dooly's Hotel will also be retained," Eoin said.
Canbe Ltd purchased the County Arms approximately five years ago, and the soon-to-be addition of Dooly's Hotel will add to the hospitality group's portfolio of accommodation for leisure and business travel in Ireland.
