Offaly player named on Sigerson Cup Team of the Year

Offaly footballer Cormac Egan has been selected on the Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup Team of the Year.

The Tullamore player and UCD student has been chosen at number 15 on the Electric Ireland GAA Higher Education Rising Stars Football Team of the Year.

A senior championship winner with Tullamore for the past two years, Egan has helped Offaly to the brink of promotion from Division 3 of this year's Allianz Football League.

Egan was part of the UCD team which reached the Sigerson Cup final year in the year, in which they were defeated by Dublin rivals DCU Dóchas Éireann.

Egan's UCD colleagues Killian Roche (Laois) and Barry McNulty (Leitrim) have also been selected on the team.

Congratulating all the players on their selection, GAA President Jarlath Burns said: “The Electric Ireland Higher Education GAA Championships provided immensely enjoyable viewing, thanks to the players' dedication and talent. Those named in the team are wonderful representatives of their third-level institutions, and we look forward to honouring their accomplishments at a formal event later in the year.”
