Offaly footballers on the verge of sealing promotion following weekend win

Promotion to Allianz National Football League Division 2 awaits the Offaly senior footballers following a merited six point success over Kildare in Glenisk O'Connor Park Tullamore on Sunday afternoon.

The victory places the Faithful County in prime position on the Division 3 league table and barring a substantial loss to Clare in their closing league outing this weekend they are virtually certain of achieving promotion and sealing a place in the division's league final.

A brace of second half goals from Rory Egan and Dylan Hyland proved the scoring difference as Offaly extended their minimum interval lead, an explosive final quarter, during which Cormac Egan excelled from his wing back berth, ensuring a six point victory come the shrill of the final whistle.

With just one defeat from their six league fixtures played to date, confidence continues to rise, the securing of promotion certain to prove a boost prior to the start of the Leinster senior football championship next month.
