Birr students to showcase their local history research

Second year students from St. Brendan’s Community School, Birr, will showcase their Classroom Based Assessments (CBAs) entitled ‘The Past in my Place’ in Birr Library throughout the month of March.

Students were invited to research their local areas or areas within Ireland, Europe and the wider world where they have a personal connection. They could focus on a person of interest, an event, a building or study their family genealogy. Students chose to display their projects in a variety of different ways and they can be viewed in the atrium of Birr Library for the month of March.

This is an exciting initiative by the History Department in St. Brendan’s Community School, Birr.

The official launch will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, at 10.30am in the atrium of Birr Library.

The exhibition will be officially opened by History and English teacher and local historian Brian Kennedy. Tea/coffee and refreshments will be provided.
