Fiachna Ó Braonáin, Tom Dunne, and Alan Connor

Famous Irish duo to perform at Esker Arts Centre in Tullamore

Esker Arts Centre in Tullamore is set to host "On The Road Again", an evening of songs and stories from a couple of well-known Irish artists.

Taking place on Saturday, March 1 at 8pm, the night of entertainment is a collaboration between Tom Dunne, the radio host and member of the band Something Happens; Fiachna Ó Braonáin of another well-known Irish band, Hothouse Flowers; and multi-instrumentalist Alan Connor.

Having shared stages across the world over several decades, Tom Dunne of Something Happens and Fiachna Ó Braonáin of Hothouse Flowers had never actually performed together until they were invited to do so on RTE Radio 1’s Ray Darcy show where they performed a Christy Moore song, “John O Dreams” and a Willie Nelson song, “On The Road Again”.

It was then that the pair decided they had to perform together more often.

Their respective bands were from different musical worlds but Tom and Fiachna were always united by a love of performance and songwriting and were very taken with what those different schools of thought could bring to the table.

Alan Connor joined the duo to provide some piano, guitar and percussion to the dynamic. He has previously toured with Sharon Shannon for over ten years and regularly performs with Something Happens and Frances Black. He is also a member of RTE's "The Late Late Show" House Band since 2021.

Tickets are on sale for €30 (+booking fee) on the Esker Arts Centre website.
