New publication celebrates 125 years of local government in Offaly
A new publication has been launched to mark 125 years of local government in Offaly.
Prepared in association with Offaly History, Celebrating 125 Years of Local Government in Offaly is available as a free PDF download from the Offaly County Council website here.
The 20-page publication covers milestones such as the first council meeting, on April 22, 1899, and also documents developments in Offaly through the years in housing, roads and other services including sanitation and electricity.
In addition, it outlines the evolution of the council's services and growth of its economic profile.
Offaly County Council Chief Executive Anna Marie Delaney paid tribute "to all of those who have served the people of Offaly over the past 125 years; for their dedication and commitment to the service, and for paving the way for a better future for the Faithful County."
