Offaly trains experiencing significant delays due to Galway power outage

Train services through Clara, Tullamore and Portarlington have been experiencing rolling delays this morning and afternoon (Wednesday) due to an earlier power outage affecting signalling equipment in Athenry.

Irish Rail said the issue resulted in this morning's 7.30am service from Galway to Dublin Heuston experiencing delay of two hours.

The subsequent 9.05am service from Galway to Dublin had to commence from Athenry due to the electrical fault.

Train services on the Westport to Dublin line, which also serves Offaly, have resumed after previously being suspended due to the fallout from Storm Éowyn, however they too have been affected by delays today.

A post from Irish Rail at 1.50pm gave the following update on delays to current services:

13:05 Galway to Heuston +20 minutes delayed.

12:45 Heuston to Westport +8 minutes delayed.

11:30 Heuston to Galway +18 minutes delayed.

11:05 Galway to Heuston +41 minutes delayed.
