Total of 770 patients being treated on hospital trolleys nationwide
A total of 770 patients were being treated on trolleys in Irish hospitals on Tuesday morning, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
Across the country, 497 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 273 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.
In the Midlands, Portiuncla Hospital in Ballinasloe had a total of 20 patients being treated on inappropriate beds, including 5 in the emergency department and 15 elsewhere in the hospital.
Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore has no patients being treated on trolleys or otherwise inappropriate beds.
The most overcrowded locations were: University Hospital Limerick – 110; University Hospital Galway – 100; Cork University Hospital – 80; Sligo University Hospital – 56; and St Vincent’s University Hospital - 50.
