Lorraine looking for 'First Dates' love for a second time!
Tullamore pensioner and member of Wordsmiths Writing Group, Lorraine Dormer, is set to make her second appearance on the hugely-popular RTE 2 television dating show, 'First Dates' this Thursday night, January 23.
Having captured the hearts of the nation following her first appearance on the show in February 2020 – just before the Covid 19 pandemic hit – the feisty local lady meets up with the restaurant's oldest dater ever in this week's episode!
Clairvoyant numerologist from Waterford, Stan, will celebrate his 86th birthday in the company of 80-year old Lorraine in the 'First Dates' restaurant, as they get to know each other and discuss their hobbies and interests in the company of three other couples looking for love in the landmark Dublin eatery.
Lorraine Dormer recounted the gripping story of her early childhood to 81-year old Michael O'Doherty when the pair met on 'First Dates' in 2020, as she movingly recalled how she had been taken from her mother in England by a priest at the age of five and brought to Ireland to live with her grandparents.
The move to Ireland came about after the priest became aware that she had became 'friendly' with another man while her husband was serving abroad with the RAF. Lorraine believed for many years that her mother had passed away, but when she learned this wasn't true, she managed to successfully re-connect with her after 47 years and the pair enjoyed 15 years of being in touch before her mother's death.
A lover of literature and writing, Lorraine Dormer has been a very active member of the Tullamore Wordsmiths Writing Group for a number of years and is currently writing a book that not only covers her own life but also delves into the history of her ancestors.
Following her 2020 appearance on 'First Dates' the young at heart Lorraine told RTE Entertainment in an interview that she would "thoroughly" recommend people to take part in the popular dating show.
"Particularly for older people", she advised. "I would appeal to them, actually, to try it, because it's a great experience, and when you get to a certain age, you have to have as many life experiences as there are."
As well as featuring Lorraine and Stan, this week's episode of 'First Dates' will put the spotlight on three other couples:
Cautious singleton Laura from Tipperary plunges headlong into the deep with surfer and lifeguard Stephen from Cork.
Will accounts clerk and sing along aficionado Katrina from Tallaght find the ‘messer’ of her dreams with a musician from Knocklyon called Fingerz? That’s ‘Fingerz’. With a ‘Z’.
And, hoping for someone to ‘light up the room’, postgrad student Dearbhla from Galway enjoys a full-on fireworks extravaganza with the flamboyant supernova that is Ellis from Dublin.
Thursday night's episode of 'First Dates' will be broadcast on RTE 2 Television at 9.30pm.
