Aldi announces new hourly pay increase for employees

Aldi Ireland announced today (Tuesday) that it is rolling out a package of improved pay and benefits for staff, which will include a raise for all employees that are paid hourly rates.

The pay increase will take effect from Saturday week, February 1, and it will see the minimum hourly pay rate at Aldi's stores and warehouses go from €14.80 to €15.10 per hour

The retail chain said additional increments were available for staff after one, two, and three years of service.

It also said the pay rise comes alongside rollout of an improved 12 weeks of neonatal leave, as well as enhanced maternity and paternity leave benefits for employees

Aldi Ireland said it committed to paying the living wage at a minimum to all colleagues since 2018, and this latest increase will see its minimum pay rates further exceed the living wage of €14.75, calculated by the Living Wage Technical Group.

The retailer currently operates 163 stores in Ireland, including four in Westmeath and three in Offaly.

Niall O'Connor, Aldi Ireland Group Managing Director, said: "We are pleased to announce an enhanced package of pay and benefits for our colleagues today.

"This investment continues our long-standing commitment to leading the market on pay, and to paying at a minimum the living wage to all our colleagues, which we have done every year since 2018."

The supermaket chain marked 25 years in Ireland last year.
