Tullamore parish to host 'Come and See' initiative on Sunday next

As part of their build-up to Christmas, Tullamore parish will host its annual 'Come and See' initiative to welcome people into the Church on Sunday afternoon next, December 22.

The initiative, in which volunteers invite members of the public to take a candle and visit the Church of the Assumption to spend some quiet time in the presence of Jesus, takes place from 3pm to 6pm on Sunday next.

“Come and See is truly a great gift to the community at Christmastime. It gives people the opportunity to spend some quiet time with Jesus and let his presence fill our hearts,” said Fr. Joe Campbell, C.C.

Fr. Campbell points out that, while we describe Christmas as the most wonderful time of the year it can also become "crazy paced with a lot of extra stress and pressures."

He adds that 'Come and See' is a great opportunity to welcome people into the church to seek peace and calm and to spend some quality time with Jesus.

"Visitors can embrace the true meaning of Christmas and escape the busyness of their lives. Is there anything more beautiful than to sit and enjoy a sense of calm in a candlelit church filled with poinsettias for the Christmas season" he says.

The organisers of 'Come and See' say that, despite how some of us may feel during the festive season, we are never alone when we know Jesus, and they have asked people to reach out to a family member, friend or neighbour who they would love to invite to come along too.

Confessions will also be available from 3 pm to 6 pm on the day.
