Mountlucas Parkrun wishes fond farewell to Paul Palmer

Mountlucas parkrun attendees wished Paul Palmer of Bord na Móna thank you and farewell at the weekend’s parkrun.

Paul is retiring from Bord na Móna this year. Mountlucas parkrun is proudly sponsored by Bord na Móna who provide the parkrun venue as well as a range of other additional support including the provision of Paul Palmer as marshall at Mountlucas parkrun since its inception in 2017.

Paul has gone above and beyond in his marshalling role at Mountlucas parkrun. He will be known by both locals and visitors to the parkrun as the friendly face at the 1km mark each week, accompanied by his tractor. His retirement from his role at Mountlucas parkrun was marked by parkrun volunteers and parkrunners at the Mountlucas windfarm visitors’ centre. Tea, coffee and refreshments, kindly sponsored by Bord na Móna, were provided to all those who attended.

Martin Lawlor, Run Director for this week’s parkrun, presented Paul with a card and engraved sculpture, on behalf of the Mountlucas parkrun volunteer team. Mary Dunne, one of the Mountlucas parkrun Run Director team, made a heartfelt speech thanking Paul for his dedication to the parkrun over the previous seven years. She had also made a special cake for Paul which was quickly sliced and enjoyed by all attendees. The volunteer team at Mountlucas parkrun would like to wish Paul well on his retirement and in his future endeavours. He will be sorely missed and any future replacement certainly has big shoes to fill!
