Meet Yasmin Rourke, Store Manager of new Tullamore ALDI

On Thursday of next week, November 28, ALDI is opening its brand-new store in Tullamore. This will be ALDI’s 163rd store in Ireland and the second store in Tullamore.

In this interview, the Store Manager, Yasmin Rourke tells us about herself and her time working with ALDI.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m originally from Headford, Co. Galway but I now live in Athlone, Co. Westmeath. I have a five-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier called Jessie who I rescued during the pandemic in 2021. She quickly became the highlight of my day! I also recently got married in September of this year in Co. Offaly.

How long have you worked with ALDI?

I have worked in ALDI for over nine years.

What ALDI stores have you worked in?

Since I started my career in ALDI nearly ten years ago, I have worked in a number of stores. I started as a Store Assistant in Headford Road, Co. Galway and then spent time at a number of ALDI stores including Loughrea, Athlone, Roscommon, Kinnegad and Ballyfermot, and now on to the new Tullamore store.

What positions did you hold in these stores?

I worked as a Store Assistant until 2019 where I got promoted to Deputy Store Manager. I became Assistant Store Manager two years later in the Kinnegad store and eventually moved to Ballyfermot as Acting Store Manager. ALDI provided training for me at the Kinnegad and Ballyfermot stores which was really beneficial when it came to progressing my career.

Why did you want to work at the new store?

It is a great opportunity to take on the new Tullamore store. The experience of opening a new store, building a new team and creating a local customer base is something I am really excited about and grateful to have the opportunity to do.

What kinds of hobbies do you enjoy?

My hobbies include cooking, travelling, and listening to music. I find that working at ALDI allows me to maintain a good work-life balance, so I’m able to pursue these hobbies in my free time.
