Birr singer up for award as he completes successful theatre tour

The Civic Theatre in Dublin was host to the final Route 66 Big Band gig of the year on a 25th anniversary tour which saw the group perform in 14 theatres nationwide, including Birr.

The Dublin-based band is fronted by Birr singer Dickie Donnelly and Lisa Kelly, and is comprised of musicians from the Army and Garda band as well as prominent session musicians.

Dickie has fronted the band for a number of seasons in the last five years.

The Offaly man was recently nominated for 'entertainer of the year' by Weddings Online, with the final coming up in the Spring.

He also announced that he is currently recording an EP which is set for release next year.
