Milestone 50 for Mountlucas Parkrun founder
Mountlucas parkrun held its first ever event in July 2017. The event was founded by Minister Pippa Hackett.
Pippa has volunteered at Mountlucas parkrun a phenomenal 134 times, most often as Run Director for the event. Relatively speaking, she has had much less opportunity to complete the event due to her commitment to acting in a voluntary role at the event. Just over seven years after the event was founded, Pippa finally completed her 50th milestone parkrun. She completed this at the Grand Canal Way Parkrun Tullamore which was back up and running last weekend after several weeks' break due to insurance issues. Pippa supported the volunteer team from the Grand Canal Way Parkrun Tullamore to resolve the issues they had encountered, in order to get this parkrun active again.
Speaking after her milestone parkrun Pippa outlined: “It’s been a long time coming, I did my first parkrun in Naas in 2014! What a movement this now is across Ireland, and great to see the Grand Canal Way parkrun in Tullamore back up and running again as they celebrated their third birthday. Mountlucas parkrun will celebrate its 300th event next Saturday, so be sure to check out one of Offaly’s two parkruns when you get the chance, they take place every Saturday morning. Wishing all the event teams and volunteers the very best into the future, and happy parkrunning!”
