Dunne speaks of Formula 1 goals

Teenage professional racing driver Alex Dunne, from Offaly, addressed the Motorsport Ireland Annual Congress in Athlone on Saturday.

Over 80 officials and motor club delegates from around the country attended the event to discuss all things motorsport in Ireland, looking back at 2024 and planning for 2025.

18-year-old Alex spoke about his driving career to date having started out in karting at eight years old.

He currently competes across Europe in the Formula 3 series championship.

His ultimate aim is to compete in Formula 1 and in May this year this ambition took a step in the right direction when he joined the McLaren Driver Development Programme making him the first Irish driver to be part of a Grand Prix teams young driver programme.
