Offaly community centres benefit from over €250,000 in funding
Local community centres will benefit from over €250,000 in funding as part of the The Community Centres Investment Fund announced today, November 4.
The funding comes as part of Phase 1 of fund which provides up to €25,000 investment for upgrade and refurbishment works on existing community centres.
Making the announcement, Taoiseach, Simon Harris, said: “I am delighted to make this announcement today which will see important upgrade works carried out in community centres in towns, villages and parishes across the country.
“These are small grants which will make a big difference. The funding we are announcing today will support local groups to improve kitchen and toilet facilities, replace old windows and doors, upgrade the heating system and improve disability access.
“I want to congratulate the committees and local volunteers for all the work they do to ensure that our community centres are at the heart of our local communities. I congratulate them on submitting successful applications and I look forward to seeing works commence on these projects over the coming months.”
Community centres benefiting from the grant include:
Offaly Scouts received €21,000 to fund the replacement of the current heaters in the Tullamore Scouts Den which is used as a Community Centre.
An Síolán, Féar Bán Cuideachta Faoi Theorainn Rathaiochta has been allocated €23,968 to fund building repairs, installation of solar panels and electronic fob access control to the building.
The community centre in Silabh Lucara has been allocated €15,220 to fund fire alarm installation for the Ballycumber Community Centre.
Barna Community Hall received €13,350 to fund the replacement of the boiler and install Solar PV panels to improve efficiency.
Birr Theatre and Community Arts Centre has been allocated €24,554 to fund upgrades to lighting and improve entrance accessibility.
Clonbullogue Parish Hall Committee Community Centre has received €20,000 to fund the interior refurbishment in the community centre, including painting, flooring, and upgrade to storage area.
Dunkerrin Community Centr received €23,655 to fund interior painting and energy upgrades to the centre.
Killeigh Community Centre received €14,796 for the extension of the existing kitchen and the construction of a stage.
Killoughey Community Centre has been allocated €23,700 to fund upgrading the community centre's heating system and replacing the existing front door.
Kinnitty Community Centre received €22,570 for the renovation of the disabled bathrooms of a community facility.
Shinrone Community Centre received €22,919 to fund the upgrade of a kitchen and associated works in Shinrone Community Centre to improve services.
Mid-Offaly Housing Association Community Building received €16,882 for the refurbishment and installation of solar panels and energy proofing of the community building.
Tullamore Community and Family Resource Centre has been allocated €14,277 to fund painting of the interior of the building and upgrade of lights to LED.
