Birr Lions Club to host charity art auction

Birr Lions Club is to once again hold a Charity Art Auction with the proceeds going to two very worthwhile charities; Breast Cancer Ireland and the Irish Cancer Society's Prostate Cancer programme.

This event will take place on Friday, September 27, at 7.30pm in Craughwell’s Bar, Birr and a large crowd is anticipated. Birr Lions Club President Joe Breen stated: “We are hugely grateful and appreciative of the support shown to us by the local artists who have generously donated over 40 pieces of outstanding artwork for this event. These artists will receive back 50% and our chosen charities 50% of the achieved auction price.”

Mr Breen also expressed his thanks to Nigel and Sinead Craughwell for the auction venue and to Hoctor Smyth Architecture Engineering who kindly donated office space to showcase the artwork during Birr Vintage Week & Arts Festival.

Bidding for the auction has opened, with interest already being registered for a number of the pieces. For those interested parties who may not be able to travel on the evening of September 27, pre-sale enquiries and/or bids can be lodged on either artauction.birrlionsclub@gmail.com or by contacting Joe Breen on (086) 2773150.

Birr Lions Club is looking forward to a very enjoyable and successful evening and to continue its longstanding tradition of helping others; the basis of Lions Clubs International for over 100 years in over 200 countries and geographic areas around the world.
