Councillor's call for speed ramps in Edenderry

Edenderry Municipal District Cathaoirleach Councillor Fergus McDonnell has again sought the support of the members for speed ramps throughout the town at a recent meeting of Edenderry Municipal District in Edenderry town hall.

Having already raised the issue at the July meeting, Councillor McDonnell requested a list of areas and locations be identified for the installing of speed ramps as soon as possible.

“This important road safety issue of speed ramps was a regular item of concern for residents in all areas throughout the municipal district during the recent local elections” stated the councillor.

“I believe there is a huge demand and support for such measures, and with reduced speed limits coming into force soon, installing speed ramps will most definitely improve road safety for everyone”.

Roads into Edenderry town, as well as locations within the town itself and roads into Daingean were identified to councillor McDonnell as areas of high concern for speed ramps.

In seeking the support of members, Councillor McDonnell highlighted that the existing traffic calming policy allows for the installation of speed ramps.

He acknowledged the support of members for Municipal District management to compile a list of locations for consideration for the installation of speed ramps.
