Clara Town Band to stage free recital next week

Fans of the award-winning Clara Town Band are in for a treat next week when the renowned musicians will stage a free recital in their home town.

In keeping with their remit as a community-based musical group, Clara Town Band is planning to stage a free open air concert in The Square in Clara at 7.15pm on Monday evening next, August 26.

The organisers of the event have stipulated that the free recital will go ahead "weather permitting" so they are hoping for a dry evening and a big turnout of locals and visitors alike to the centre of Clara for what promises to be a fun-filled musical evening.

The history of bands in Clara town goes back to the early 1900's with the formation of a Pipe and Drum Band. This was followed by the Harp and Shamrock Band, and latterly the Clara Town Band.

As well as performing in their home town on a regular basis, Clara Town Band also takes part in national and international competitions, and has won numerous awards over the years.
