Irish Architecture exhibition opens in Birr

Emmett Scanlon, director, Irish Architecture Foundation; Senator Pippa Hackett, Minister of State for Land Use and Biodiversity at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine; and Valerie Mulvin, director, McCullough Mulvin Architect‘The Reason of Towns’, an exhibition that explores the traditions and future of the Irish town, has opened at John’s Hall in Birr, Co Offaly.
The Irish Architecture Foundation, with architect Valerie Mulvin, opened the exhibition on Thursday, August 1, and the launch event captivated attendees with its engaging and provocative showcase. The exhibition will run until August 11.
Following its run at John’s Hall in Birr, ‘The Reason of Towns’ will travel to other national locations including Belmullet and Trim in August and September.
Curated, commissioned, and produced by the Irish Architecture Foundation, and hosted in partnership with local arts and cultural organisations and venues, the exhibition features a series of immersive display ‘characters’, alongside the writings and buildings of Mulvin and her practice, McCullough Mulvin Architects.
