Irish boxer TJ Doheny will face one of the hardest tasks in boxing as he takes on the undefeated Naoya Inoue in Japan.
The former IBF world champion will face the undefeated, undisputed super-bantamweight champion on September 3rd.
Doheny comes into the bout on the back of three straight wins - all in Japan, as he aims to regain the belt he held for 10 months in 2018-19.
Standing in his way is Inoue, who has a 27-0 record with 24 knockouts and won his last fight against Mexican fighter Luis Nery in May.
As well as super-bantamweight champion, Inoue's undisputed legacy began in December 2022 when he knocked out Paul Butler to unify all the bantamweight titles.
Inoue will come into the bout as the heavy favourite, and is seen by many as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world.
He was linked with several big names before this announcement, as Inoue's popularity continues to grow.
However, Doheny has shown in his career he is capable of overcoming the odds, and will once again back himself in Japan, where he has been hugely successful.
The Portlaoise boxer's last bout was on the undercard of Inoue's last win, with a knockout victory over Bryl Bayogos inside four rounds.
