Glamping project planned for Croghan
Planning permission is being sought for a glamping project in North Offaly.
Kim Darby has recently submitted a planning application for the erection of four glamping pods, at Togher, Croghan.
The application is accompanied by an online survey, which was completed by 15 people, and which the applicant said demonstrated strong community support for the project.
All 15 participants said they believed that the establishment of a glamping site would have a positive impact on Croghan's local economy.
The majority of respondents (11 out of 15) believed that the current infrastructure in the area is sufficient to support increased tourism, while four expressed the view it is not sufficient to support increased tourism.
The community engagement survey concluded: “Overall, the survey results provide a favourable outlook for the proposed glamping business in Croghan, with strong community interest, positive economic projections, and limited opposition or concerns.”
A decision is due on the planning application by August 29.
