Fare increases come into effect for Offaly train users

Higher fares for those travelling by train to or from Offaly came into effect today (Monday).

Irish Rail users saw fares on a number of Intercity routes, including the Dublin to Galway and Dublin to Westport services, increase by an average of around 4%.

The new fares mean that an adult return ticket from Tullamore to Dublin, when booked online, now costs €19.50.

An adult return fare, booked online, from Tullamore to Galway now costs €20.80.

Irish Rail said the new fares represented "the first booking office fare increases on any Intercity route since 2018, with a reduction of 20% having been implemented in May 2022".
