Frank Moran

Frank Moran (Fianna Fail), Tullamore

We sent a questionnaire to all 12 candidates running in the Tullamore Electoral Area in the forthcoming Offaly County Council election. The responses were published in print in the Offaly Independent last Friday.

ADDRESS: 2 Oak View, Kilcoursey, Clara

PARTY: Fianna Fáil

SPECIAL AREAS OF INTEREST:

I have a huge interest in helping people understand their entitlements and advocating for same. My priorities are what the people I represent require assistance with. It would be easy to list priorities, however I believe in listening and then advocating.

WHY ARE YOU RUNNING IN THIS ELECTION?

I’m running to hopefully get re-elected and continue the work I’ve being doing for the individuals, the committees, and the groups I have had the privilege to represent for the last 10 years.

WHAT ARE THE TWO BIGGEST ISSUES IN YOUR AREA?

Number one has to be housing, I was delighted as Cathaoirleach to sign contracts for 38 houses in Clara and 10 in Ballycumber which will become a home for many. Number two is entitlements. I don’t believe in phone calls and saying “give the council a call and fill in a form”, I believe in having the forms in the car and calling to my constituents and filling out the forms with them

WHO DO YOU MOST ADMIRE AND WHY?

My brother Padraig. He has been at my side since day one when I ventured into politics and to this day is still at my side as are my family, friends and supporters.

TELL US SOMETHING PEOPLE MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU:

I come from a family of eleven kids and I am a triplet. My two brothers, Finian and Brendan, along with myself, are the youngest of the Moran clan, and our parents called us after the three wards in Tullamore hospital at the time, Finian, Francis and Brendan's Wards).
