Sports Capital funding increase will benefit clubs across Offaly

Minister of State for Sport, Physical Education and the Gaeltacht, Thomas Byrne T.D. has announced that at least €250m in funding will be allocated under the latest round of the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme for clubs across Ireland.

In a tweet posted to his account on X (formerly twitter) today, the minister confirmed that "every valid application will receive an allocation", with individual allocations to be announced in the Autumn.

The funding available represents a 50% increase on the funding allocated in early 2022.. This will give huge encouragement to the 72 groups within Offaly that have open applications, in advance of the full breakdown of allocations which will be announced in September.

Minister Pippa Hackett has welcomed this news for sports clubs across Offaly, highlighting how she is "very enthusiastic about what today’s announcement will mean for the clubs that we have worked with, and all 72 Offaly applications, which includes clubs, community groups and leagues from every sport, ranging from Gaelic games to cricket, martial arts and of course wheelchair sport."

This funding increase also includes over €26m specifically for sports equipment, as announced by Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin T.D.
