Peter Ormond (Fianna Fáil), Birr
We sent a questionnaire to all 15 candidates running in the Birr Electoral Area in the forthcoming Offaly County Council election. The responses were published in print in the Offaly Independent last Friday.
NAME: Peter Ormond
ADDRESS: Kyleogue, Shinrone, Birr.
PARTY: Fianna Fáil.
SPECIAL AREAS OF INTEREST:
Building strong communities and amenities across the Birr Municipal District.
WHY ARE YOU RUNNING IN THIS ELECTION?
I want to continue my work for the people in the district. There are many projects that I have commenced work on and I want to continue my work to deliver those projects, particularly in the areas of housing, roads, and amenities for communities.
WHAT ARE THE TWO BIGGEST ISSUES IN YOUR AREA?
The two biggest issues people are raising with me are housing and the cost of living. There is a real concern about the lack of social and private houses in South Offaly and the increase in the cost of living over the last few years.
WHO DO YOU MOST ADMIRE AND WHY?
Brian Cowen. He was a great man to represent the people in the constituency and he delivered many great projects that benefited future generations.
Everywhere we travel in the constituency, we see the legacy of his work.
