'Calendar Girls the Musical' comes to Tullamore in May

Tickets are selling fast for the inaugural musical from Fun House Theatre Company, which is the Midlands newest amateur dramatic and musical theatre company.

The company will stage the hilarious 'Calendar Girls the Musical' in Esker Arts Centre in Tullamore, from May 1 to 5 next, with three stalwarts of the local theatre scene, Jay Origan, Amanda Cunningham, and Sinead Handy, playing lead roles in the production.

Fun House Theatre Company is thrilled to announce an outstanding group of Midlands Credit Unions as the headline advertiser for the production, with St. Brigid's Credit Union in Clara listed as one of the eight Credit Unions involved.

Rooted in their ethos of “For Community, Not Profit”, the Midlands Credit Unions group are a perfect match for Fun House Theatre Company’s mission to forge imaginative community partnerships and support essential local initiatives.

This collaboration will notably contribute to the creation of the new Midlands Hospice in Tullamore, set to serve the communities of Offaly, Laois, Longford and Westmeath.

In an exciting collaboration, Fun House has partnered with Offaly Hospice, encouraging audiences to support this vital local service through various collaborative fundraisers and collections. Additionally, exclusive prints by Emma Campbell Artist and a unique 'Nude' calendar, created by members of the community, will be available for purchase during the staging of 'Calendar Girls' contributing further to the bid to build a Midlands Hospice.

'Calendar Girls the Musical' is inspired by the heartwarming 2003 film which featured renowned actresses Helen Mirren and Julie Walters. The story was beautifully adapted for the theatrical stage by Tim Firth in 2008 and made its musical debut in 2015, enriched by the musical genius of Gary Barlow.

Under the direction of the Aims award-winning Pat McElwain, the Fun House Theatre Company production inTullamore boasts a remarkable ensemble cast drawn from the vibrant Midlands region. The production's dynamic movement is choreographed by Chris Corroon, with Shane Farrell leading as the musical director.

There will be six performances of the show from May 1 to 5 next, including a matinee performance on Sunday, May 5.. Tickets are available on the Esker Arts website www.eskerarts.ie. Early booking is advisable.
