Investigation underway after body taken from canal in Tullamore

Gardaí in Offaly are investigating all the circumstances following the discovery of a woman’s body on Sunday afternoon.

The woman, who is believed to be in her middle aged, was located at the Grand Canal, along the Sragh Road in Tullamore. Gardaí arrived to the scene at around midday.

The woman’s body has since been removed to Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore where a post-mortem will take place in due course. The results of the post-mortem will determine the course of the investigation.
