Alisha honoured at Juvenile All Star Awards

The Juvenile All Star Awards are held each year to celebrate Ireland’s best and most successful juvenile athletes from all over the country.

This year's event was held at the Mullingar Park Hotel on March 16, and Tullamore Harriers athlete Alisha Maher is a very worthy recipient for Offaly. The awards ceremony was a celebration of the ‘next generation of stars’ and their many successes throughout the 2023 season.

Supporting Alisha at her prestigious award were her parents Beatrice and Eamonn, relay teammates Eimear Cotter, Teagan Delaney and Lucy Champ and also her coach Ciaran Farrelly. Alisha's commitment to the sport saw her flourish in 2023, while balancing her Junior Cert exams and her participation in Irish dancing.

Among Alisha's 2023 season achievements were gold medals in the U17 100m at the All-Ireland Juvenile Championships and the 4x100m relay at the Leinster Juvenile Championships (breaking the Leinster Championship record in the U17 age group). Among her personal best times are 7.85 (60m), 12.45 (100m) and 25.77 (200m).

Alisha is currently in Transition Year at Tullamore College. She hopes to medal in the 4x200m and the 4x100m relay Leinster and All-Ireland level and also hopes to medal individually.

Alisha, who lives in Ballyboy, specialises in shorter sprints, such as the 60m, 100m and 200m. Outside of athletics, Alisha is a member of the Callanan MacLoone O’Meara Irish Dance Academy and Ballyboy CCE.

Her ambitions are to continue her development in athletics, to set new personal bests and to someday represent her country internationally.

Without her dedicated coaches Ciaran Farrelly and Ray Delaney and her supportive family and friends behind her all the way, she would not have achieved the great success of winning the All-Ireland title last July.

Tullamore Harriers AC congratulates Alisha on a well deserved award and wishes her all the best for the 2024 season.
