Portarlington open mic event to host song contest

A new original song competition is being organised by an offshoot of the Port Art Collective.

The Portsounds open mic is an initiative of the Port art Collective and has been running for over a year. It is a platform that encourages the performance of original music, and some of those who have performed at the open mic have gone on to feature at the Emo-based festival Forest Fest.

The new song competition, Making Tracks, gives the winner the chance to have their song recorded in a professional recording studio.

Organisers hope the competition will also help to unearth a few more local acts

To enter all you have to do is register your interest with Portsounds either by messaging the Facebook page, email or simply by turning up to the open mic on February 23, in The Anvil Inn Portarlington and it must be an original song. The competition will commence in March and it’s only €10 to enter.
