Edenderry GAA seeks support as it plans for future

Edenderry GAA will hold a planning workshop early next month as it prepares to develop a plan for the next six years.

The wider community is welcome to attend the workshop event which takes place on Thursday evening, February 1 in the Edenderry GAA Pavilion at 7.30pm.

At present, a steering committee, comprising people from all sections of Edenderry GAA under the guidance of Paul O'Kelly, are planning for the next stage in the club's future.

In a statement, Edenderry GAA outlines the background to its planning process for the coming years and the rationale behind the workshop.

"As a rapidly growing club serving the community of Edenderry, our club has always planned for the future. The successful delivery of Club Development Plans prepared in 2010 and 2017 have served the club very well and as we enter 2024, the club is embarking on a fresh process to prepare a plan that will serve the club toward the next decade," said a club statement.

"With the increasingly popularity of all Gaelic games in Edenderry, it is critically important that we plan appropriately to ensure we are well positioned to provide the best possible participation experience to all our existing and future members. As a progressive club, we are well advanced in the development of our 'One Club' model, whereby we have successfully incorporated the GAA, ladies football and camogie clubs into one organisation.

"The transition to ‘One Club’ has rapidly enlarged our organisation and brought many challenges. However, we believe, the preparation of an inclusive Club Plan for the future, provides an opportunity to successfully deal with the challenges and also strengthen the vibrancy of Gaelic games in our community.

"As we embark on our journey to prepare an excellent plan, we require the assistance and input from the wider community. An integral element of our plan preparation involves significant community consultation. We are extending an open invitation to the wider community to our upcoming workshop event on Thursday, February 1 next. The workshop will be 90 minutes in duration and will provide attendees with an opportunity to influence the strategy of the club," the statement continued.

A youth workshop will also be held on Saturday, February 3 for younger members of the community.
