Milestones for Martina and Mairead at Mountlucas Parkrun

Over 70 runners and walkers turned out on Saturday for a very cold and frosty parkrun.

Martina Lawlor, a regular participant and volunteer at Mountlucas Parkrun, completed her 150th parkrun on the morning. She was supported by her family and friends on the morning. Her husband Martin completed his 100th parkrun the previous Saturday, so he has a bit of catching up to do.

There was a special Mountlucas parkrun held on New Years Day with almost 80 participants on the morning. Mairead Walsh, another regular volunteer at Mountlucas Parkrun, completed her 100th parkrun on the morning.

Also, on the morning, Mary Dunne celebrated her birthday in style and all participants enjoyed loads of goodies brought along by Mairead and Mary, to help celebrate the occasion.

Parkrun is a free weekly timed 5k event for runners and walkers that takes place every Saturday morning at more than 2,000 locations in 23 Countries across the world.

Mountlucas Parkrun is based at Bord na Móna Mountlucas Wind farm outside Daingean. The organisers are suggesting that people make participating at the weekly Mountlucas Parkrun one of their New Years resolutions, so why not turn up at 9.30 am on any Saturday morning to see what it is all about.
