Tolls on N6 and other motorways have gone up again

The arrival of the new year has brought higher tolls for motorists using Irish motorways, including the N6 and M4 routes between Galway and Dublin.

It marks the second time in six months that tolls have increased, with the previous price rises coming last July.

On the N6 (Kinnegad - Galway), M1 (Dublin - Belfast), M7/M8 (Dublin - Cork/Limerick), N25 (Cork - Rosslare) and N18 (Limerick - Galway), the toll for cars has increased by 20c to €2.30.

The charge on the M4 (Kinnegad - Dublin) is now €3.40, which is also a 20 cent increase, while on the M3 the price has gone up by 10 cent to €1.70

On the M50, toll prices have increased by 20 to 40 cent, depending on the vehicle and the driver's toll account status with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).

The M50 increases are determined by type vehicle and whether the motorist uses a tag, a video account, or is unregistered.

TII said it was basing the toll increases on the annual rate of inflation at the end of August, which it put at 6.3 per cent.
