Durrow GAA makes presentation to cancer support group Dóchas

Members of Durrow GAA recently presented Dóchas Offaly Cancer Support Group Service Manager John Conroy with a cheque for €2,000, following a bake sale ran on behalf of the group.

Members of Durrow GAA gathered in the Bridge Centre, Tullamore earlier this month to sell fresh baked goods and raised an impressive €2,000.

Speaking on behalf of the charity, John Conroy noted: “This is hugely welcome at a time of great financial uncertainty, and we can’t thank the organising committee for undertaking this on our behalf so close to Christmas. Our service is experiencing a huge surge in demand and with that comes additional financial constraints.

"To receive this two days before Christmas means we can ensure our deficit going into 2024 is further reduced and we so appreciate everyone’s efforts in making this a success.

"I would also like to thank the wider community of Offaly and the Midlands who have supported us so well in 2023; without your support, we simply wouldn’t be able to continue to provide the services we do,” John added.
