Mellas Ladies Club marks 40 years

Mellas Ladies Club from Ballycumber recently celebrated its 40th birthday.

Founded in 1983, the club is named after St Mella, mother of St Manchan who is the local patron saint of the area.

The 40th birthday event began with mass celebrated by Fr Brendan and assisted by Fr Reggie in Boher Church for all members past and present and all deceased members and their families.

The celebrations continued in Gussies where a prosecco reception was followed by appetisers, nibbles and treats. A birthday cake to mark the occasion was enjoyed by all.

Past and present members reminisced on trips and activities enjoyed by all over the years. Music on the night was provided by the Grennan brothers who were hugely entertaining.

A list on display showed various achievements by the club over 40 years which included a lot of community work , several fundraisers for worthy causes and many group meals and trips away.
