'Rambling House' event in Tullamore to mark Positive Ageing Week

Offaly Older Persons Network is hosting a 'Rambling House' evening of music, song, stories and craic next week to mark Positive Ageing Week.

The event, which gets underway at 8pm on Thursday, October 5 next, in Tullamore Rugby Club, is being held to raise funds for Offaly Family Carers and admission is €10.

The 'Rambling House' evening aims to recreate the old rambling house where people gathered together to enjoy a night of music, song, stories and craic in each others company.

This is a not to be missed event, and Offaly Older Person's Network says there has been a great response to date from musicians and entertainers who are eager to be part of the Tullamore event to mark Positive Ageing Week across the country. The Network is also deeply indebted to Tullamore Rugby Club for providing the venue for the 'Rambling House' evening.

Positive Ageing Week (PAW) is an annual Age Action initiative to celebrate the contributions of older people and to promote their agency. It takes place all next week, from October 1 to 7, with events being organised around the country to emphasise the positive aspects of ageing and the significant roles that older individuals play in our communities and families.

The week-long event aims to challenge stereotypes and misconceptions about ageing an highlight the positivity and vitality of older age. Positive Ageing Week 2023 will carry on the theme of Challenging Ageism – Re framing How We Think, Feel and Act towards ageing and older persons.

Anyone and everyone is encouraged to participate in Positive Ageing Week. Offaly Older Person’s Network has always played an important role in Offaly Positive Ageing Week, hosting a 'Good Old Days' event in 2021 and a very successful Fashion Show last year.
