Offaly actor to feature on panel for social media workshop
Killurin native Aisling Kearns has been announced as a speaker for a panel discussion at a social media workshop in Drogheda, Co. Louth this weekend.
The local actor and well-known Tik-Tok personality Aisling Kearns will form part of the panel discussion along with writer and former general manager and Head of Marketing at the Gaiety School of Acting Lauren O'Toole and artist and designer Lucy Butler.
The Making Media Work For You social media workshop will take place in Droichead Arts Centre in Drogheda this Saturday, September 23 at 12pm and was inspired by the suggestion box from the Arts Centre's first Artist’s Drop In earlier this year.
The workshop will include speakers whose livelihoods feature the use of social media and offer a brainstorm session on how to improve your online content.
Well-known for her comedy sketches on social media also, Aisling said she started creating sketches during the pandemic because there was no work in her field. “It was something to pass the time and keep my brain working. I have a natural interest in comedy.” She has managed to rack up an impressive 215,000 followers on Tik-Tok and has received over four million likes on her sketches on the video sharing platform. Aisling also has over 73,000 followers on Instagram.
Aisling graduated from the Gaiety School of Acting in 2019 and also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Voice and Dance from the University of Limerick.
The new initiative in Droichead Arts Centre is devised to support artists through practical resources; Q&A’s, workshops and collaborative community events. The series of workshops have been devised and coordinated by actor and singer Juliette Crosbie and Droichead Arts Centre Artistic Director Collette Farrell. It places an established artist at the core of producing events, workshops, Q&A’s for the community to help identify artist’s unique needs and struggles and devise creative solutions to enhance resources and empower artists.
