Clonbullogue director to launch new book

Inspirational Clonbullogue director Paddy Slattery is set to launch his new book on Culture Night in Tullamore.

Esker Arts in Tullamore will host the official launch of 'Quiet Thoughts, but out Loud' on Friday, September 22 next at 8pm.

The event will include a live podcast style interview with the author hosted by John Connors and Tiernan Williams, as well as some entertainment from special guests on the night and audience talkback.

‘Quiet thoughts, but out Loud’ is described as philosophical and observational book based on the challenges and the triumphs of Paddy Slattery's life which include a severe spinal cord injury which left him paralysed, two near death experiences and his debut film hitting the cinema and Netflix, just as Covid was beginning to make headlines.

In his book, he thinks out loud on his views of God, politics, society and everything in between.

Paddy Slattery's debut full length feature film 'Broken Law' was picked up by Netflix, and was nominated for five Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) awards back in 2021.

He fell in love with film making and music at a tumultous time in his life after being confined to bed for almost a year after a serious car acccident, and since then, despite being confined to a wheelchair, he channels his energies into writing, producing and directing screenplays, films, albums and videos.

The film director, who worked in construction prior to his accident, is a native of Clonbullogue, where he still lives and has set up a studio and company Stand Mantra Productions.

Admission to the Culture Night launch is free, but booking is advised.
