Mellas Ladies Club to fundraise in memory of late Baby Callum

In a heartwarming gesture of remembrance and community support, the Ballycumber Mellas Club is organising a special fundraiser to honour the memory of Baby Callum Corcoran. Callum, the beloved 11-month-old grandson of Marian and Seamus Corcoran, Leamonaghan, tragically lost his battle with a rare cancer earlier this year. His journey touched the hearts of many.

The Mellas Club, in collaboration with the Corcoran family, has come together to launch the 'Carry a Teddy for Callum' event. This fundraiser aims to raise funds for LauraLynn Children's Hospice & Noah's Ark Children's Hospice, in remembrance of the exceptional care and support offered to their family.

The mission of LauraLynn Children's Hospice & Noah's Ark Children's Hospice is to provide comfort, care, and solace to families facing the challenges of serious illness and end of life care. The Mellas Club's fundraiser will help ensure that these vital organisations can continue their invaluable work, extending a helping hand to those in need.

The event is set to take place at the scenic Ballycumber GAA walking track, where participants are invited to walk in 30-minute slots, collectively spanning a continuous 24-hour period. The walk will begin at 2pm on Friday, August 18, and conclude at 2pm on Saturday, August 19. A poignant teddy bear, symbolising the youthful spirit of these organisations, will be continuously handed from individual to individual over the span of 24 hours, symbolically tracing the remarkable journey of many people who benefit from work of LauraLynn Children's Hospice & Noah's Ark Children's Hospice.

Individuals interested in participating can contact any member of the Ballycumber Mellas Ladies Club or message the “Mellas Ladies Group” Facebook Page, which will serve as a central hub for updates, news, and stories related to the event. Members of the club have sponsorship cards available for those who wish to contribute in person.
