Offaly farmer wins top sustainability award at Tullamore Show

An Offaly born farmer and his wife were big winners at the inaugural Sustainable Farmer Awards at last weekend's Tullamore Show and FBD National Livestock Show.

Catriona and Joe O’Meara, who are pictured above with their children Katie and Eoin, won the Dairy Calf-to-Beef Award.

Joe, who is originally from Coolderry, farms with his wife Caitriona in Camross in Wexford. Minister Charlie McConalogue presented the awards on Sunday, which honour top performing sustainable beef and sheep farmers.

The awards are the result of a partnership between the FBD National Livestock Show, Bord Bia, Teagasc and the Irish Farmers Journal.
