Local Gardai issue warning about email 'summons' scam

Gardai have issued a warning about another online scam in which people are sent a fraudulent email that claims to include a summons from "La Garda Siochana".

An example of one of the emails was shared on social media by Laois Offaly Gardai.

The scam email, from 'La Garda', had "Summons" and a number in the title.

The message itself read, "Hello, you will find attached a summons to which you must respond within 72 hours".

Gardai warned people not to interact with messages of this kind if they receive them.

"Ignore, do not engage, and delete. Do not open files or open links," is the advice.
