Offaly twins set for World Archery Youth Championships
Offaly twins have been named to compete in the World Archery Youth Championships next week.
Olivia Eady and Corey Eady, from Edenderry, are part of a 13-strong Irish team selected for the event to be held in Limerick, from July 1 to July 9
The World Archery Youth Championships are the pinnacle of achievement in the world of junior archery, attracting participants from across the globe who have demonstrated exceptional talent and commitment to the sport. Archery Ireland is delighted to host this year's championships in Limerick, providing a fantastic opportunity to promote Ireland and encourage aspiring archers to reach for their dreams.
Corey will take part in the Compound U21 men's event, while Olivia will compete in the equivalent U21 women's event. Compound is a type of bow.
Corey, aged 18, has ten years of experience. He is a member of Millennium Archers and has been representing Archery Ireland for the past two years. Corey has previously competed at European and World-level competitions, including a second-place finish in the World Bowhunter Championships in Italy in 2017. He says his goal from the World Championships in Limerick “is to absorb as much as I can from this upcoming competition and gain an international ranking.”
Olivia, also 18, has nine years experience. Her background lies in field archery, and she has won numerous International Field Archery Association competitions like the World Bowhunter Championship and the European Bowhunter Championship. For the past two years, she has been shooting for Millennium Archers.
“I'm quite competitive, especially with my brother, as we constantly push each other to improve our shooting scores. Representing Ireland at the Youth World Championship in Limerick is a great opportunity for me to learn from the competition, aim for a top 10 placement, and connect with fellow archers from different countries.”
The twins are currently fundraising to help meet the cost of the event. Their GoFundMe page is at https://www.gofundme.com/f/twin-junior-compound-archers-representing-ireland
