Renowned French Horn player Cormac Ó hAodáin will play Tullamore Gramophone Society's concert in Charleville Castle on June 18.

Award-winning chamber ensemble to play in Charleville Castle

Tullamore Gramophone Society is delighted to welcome back for the second year, an award-winning chamber ensemble from the Royal Irish Academy of Music, this time playing a programme of Beethoven, Mozart and Puccini.

The concert takes place in Charleville Castle, Tullamore on Sunday, June 18 at 3pm.

The group acknowledged the generous support of The Trench Trust in hosting this concert.

Tullamore Gramophone Society is privileged to have the renowned French Horn player Cormac Ó hAodáin as this years’ RIAM Faculty Member with the group. Cormac’s teacher was Victor Malirsh, who is famous for his sensitive playing of the horn solo in Seán Ó Riada's 1960 score of Mise Éire, with its rhapsodic transcription of Róisín Dubh.

“One of his outstanding students at the RIAM”, Cormac Ó hAodáin, is now principal horn with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and, in turn, teaches a new generation of French Horn players at the RIAM.

Before joining the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Dublin-born Cormac had previously played with the Royal Philharmonic and Philharmonia Orchestras with whom he toured extensively. He has appeared as soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra among many other major orchestras.

Cormac previously played in the group's 2016 concert with the Veronica McSwiney Trio.

The full Chamber Ensemble comprises: Cormac O hAodáin (Horn), Anastasia Despotis (Horn), Jisun Min (Violin), Shane Quinn (Violin), Katie Ni Mhaoláin (Viola) and Peadar Ó Loinsigh (Cello).

Jisun and Peader are post-graduate students (Jisun also played in last year’s Charleville concert while still an undergraduate) and Anastasia, Shane and Katie are BMus students at the RIAM.
