Ruaile Buaile release new song filmed in Offaly

Local trad band Ruaile Buaile recently released their new music video which was filmed in Offaly.

After years of requests from fans at live shows, Ruaile Buaile have released their own high-energy version of 'The Bog', (The Rattlin’ Bog) on all music platforms.

The video features a scene in Dan and Molly's pub in Kilcormac and stars actor Michael Buckley as the bogman, Jack Godley as the barman, Niall Kelly as the farmer, Shane Lynam as the mechanic, Cathal Guinan as the contractor and Seán Bourke as the driver.

The bogman meets the five band members on his journey who play cameo roles. Shane said they got their friend Michael Buckley on board as he is a “staple in the Irish music scene.”

“He's great craic and turned out to be brilliant in front of the camera.”

Shane added that it was “definitely a challenge” for the band to try their hand at acting. “We did need somebody with a bit of acting to pull it off.”

The music video was filmed over the Easter bank holiday weekend with the countryside scenes being filmed in Ballyboy and Kilcormac, scenes in Lough Boora park and indoor shots were in Tom and Jerry's Tom & Gerry's Bar in Ballinagar.

The music video for the song can be viewed on Ruaile’s Buaile’s YouTube channel and all social media platforms. It was shot by the talented Mark Bennett from Mullingar under the watchful eye of Mick Bracken. The video shows off the countryside of the bands beloved base of County Offaly. It's very comedic and entertaining thanks to the creative acting of Michael Buckley, with cameos from the five members of the group.

The track was recorded, and mixed by Joe Egan in Nutshed Studios, Clara and mastered by Aidan Cunningham in Tullamore.

The group had great success with their version of Maniac 2000 and this version of 'The Bog' is sure to follow in its footsteps featuring the group's unmistakable vocals and high tempo rooted in tenor banjo and fiddle.

The song is available to stream on all music platforms now.
