Mary's Meals Offaly relaunch coin collection appeal

Mary's Meals Offaly have relaunched their coin collection and are appealing to anyone who may have any unwanted coins or old notes in jam jars, vases or pots lying around the house or at work.

Paul Galvin of Mary's Meals Offaly said: ”We'd really be so grateful to anyone who may be able to help us by donating coins or notes in any shape or form. Knowing that every eleven cent we get will provide a meal for a hungry child at school is truly amazing. There are two ways to donate. You can contact me at any time on 087 837 5407 and I'll arrange to have them collected or you can drop them in to any of the shops who have very kindly agreed to help us.”

A tiny proportion of coins and notes could transform the lives of so many of those who are hungry and living in poverty. It’s estimated that there are between 80 and 100 million punts still in circulation.

Mary's Meals feed hungry children at school in 18 of the world's poorest countries at a cost of only €22 per Child for a school year or only eleven cent for each nutritious meal. They also guarantee that at least 93% of all donations go directly to the work of feeding the children.
