Portiuncula University Hospital will hold a special Mass on Thursday, April 20 next at 3pm in Gullanes Hotel, Ballinasloe to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the healthcare facility.

Special Mass to celebrate 80 years of Portiuncula healthcare

Portiuncula University Hospital will hold a special Mass later this month next to celebrate 80 years of delivering healthcare to Ballinasloe and the surrounding areas.

The Mass, which will take place at 3pm on April 20 in Gullanes Hotel in Ballinasloe, is one of a number of events planned to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the hospital.

The April 20 event is being held to commemorate the founding of the hospital and acknowledge the contributions of the Franciscan Missionaries of the Divine Motherhood (FMDM) and all of the staff, past and present, who have served the local community so effectively.

"We are delighted to be celebrating this momentous milestone," said James Keane, Hospital Manager, who added that ”Portiuncula University Hospital has been an integral part of the local community and has served multiple generations of families right across the county and surrounding areas."

Management at the hospital has extended a special invitation to all staff, past and present, patients, and anyone who has been a part of the journey, to come and celebrate the past 80 years of Portiuncula University Hospital at the Mass on Thursday, April 20.
