'Ireland AM' visits Clonmacnoise for live broadcast

Clonmacnoise featured on live television broadcast this morning (Wednesday), with Ireland AM weatherman Deric Hartigan paying a visit to the ancient monastery.

Virgin Media Ireland viewers saw Deric exploring the Shannonside site with assistance from guides Patrick Carton and John O'Regan.

Patrick gave an outline of the history of Clonmacnoise and some of its famous visitors in modern times, such as Pope John Paul II and the singer Meatloaf, who came there for "spiritual sustenance" around the time when he played a famous gig in Moate in 1990.
